Central Securities Depository is a service of BVM (Mozambique Stock Exchange), which aims to ensure greater transparency and security to the securities market, through the following actions:

  • Registration of all securities in circulation in the national territory, represented by physical documents or not, listed on the Stock Exchange or not, as well as the registration of new securities issued;
  • Facilitation and control of all securities trades, namely, purchases, sales, exchanges, loans, transfers, among others;
  • Provision of credible information in order to allow a transparent and fair process of exercise of rights of social content (participation in General Meetings, mergers, among others) and equity content (distribution of dividends, interest payments, subscription rights among others).

Establishment and Start

Central Securities Depository was legally established by the Government of Mozambique through Decree no. 25/2006, of August 23, and BVM, the Mozambique Stock Exchange, is the managing entity responsible for taking organizational, technological, accounting and administrative measures which guarantee its operation. However, the Central Securities Depository began to operate effectively on November 5, 2014.
